Bicycle route from Aldea del Fresno to Navalcarnero

VILLAGE OF EL FRESNO TO NAVALCARNERO

From the pastures to the plain, land of Grenache and Malvar wines.

A tour full of wineries, undoubtedly a route for wine lovers. This stage begins with a fairly steep slope but, don't worry because it is short. To begin with, you have to climb up to the well visible water reservoir located in the upper part of Aldea del Fresno. From there the road becomes much smoother and runs through very attractive areas of Mediterranean forest.

Practically all the way to Villamanta is along a forest track between large farms, some of them dedicated to the breeding of fighting cattle. One of these estates, located to the right of the road towards Villamanta, belongs to Bodega Valquejigoso, one of the most spectacular wineries you can find in Spain, run by a team that takes care of every detail, producing wines that are sold halfway around the world. The winery is built under uncommon quality parameters and is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. Arriving at Villamanta, you will see that the road surface is stonier and that the route crosses areas excavated in a "trench". You are in one of the sections of the old train track Madrid - Almorox, a train that ran from July 1891 between Madrid and Villa del Prado. In 1901 it reached the town of Almorox in Toledo. It ceased to operate completely in 1970. You can still see some stations still standing, among them, the one in Villamanta.

From Villamanta, the road goes uphill again. It has no steep slopes, but now yes, the uphill is relatively long, so be patient. This uphill is followed by a stretch with relatively steep descents on a road with a good surface and short uphill stretches until reaching Navalcarnero on the Camino del Mingo. When you arrive in Navalcarnero, go to the Plaza de Segovia, the nerve center of the municipality.
