Museo de Arte de Torrelaguna

Plaza Mayor, 6

28180 - Torrelaguna

Founded in 1985, the museum has become a reference for contemporary Spanish art, showing works by the most leading artists and with the greatest international projection of recent times. In order to bring the Spanish contemporary art to the maximum possible audience, the museum contemplates the loan to other institutions.

The exhibition space consists of five areas, two dedicated to ceramics, with works by Gertrudis Márquez and reproductions of archaeological vessels from the Neolithic period to Muslim times. The rest of the rooms are dedicated to works of contemporary Spanish art, showing special interest in traversing the main keys of art from the 80s to the present day, with artists as relevant as those mentioned. The collection consists of an extensive background, which rotates to be displayed in the halls in a cyclical way.

Located in the Plaza Mayor of Torrelaguna, next to the church of Santa María Magdalena, it is a magnificent contrast between the most recent art, exhibited in its rooms; and, that comes from the thirteenth century, when the temple was started, later reformed by Cardinal Cisneros.
