Vegas del Tajo and Tajuña region

The region of Las Vegas del Tajo is located southeast of the Community of Madrid, and extends from the Tajuña River to the delimitation caused naturally by the Tagus River on the border with the provinces of Cuenca and Toledo. The city of Aranjuez, considered by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site for its cultural heritage, is one of the main tourist destinations in the region and the Community of Madrid.

This region is mainly characterized by the number of rivers and tributaries found throughout its territory. As for its landscape, it is common to find many irrigated areas for different crops and riverside areas, due to the proximity to the rivers. In addition, we find imposing forests of poplar, ash and elm trees. This natural environment is ideal for nature lovers.

One of the main attractions of the region is the Southeast Regional Park, located between Arganda del Rey and San Martin de la Vega, which has easy routes for cycling, or charming trails for walking.

The towns located within the boundaries of the region allow you to enjoy a spectacular heritage both historically, religiously and culturally. In San Martin de la Vega we can find the Church of the Nativity of Our Lady -declared of Cultural Interest-; in Morata de Tajuña we can find Roman or Arab sites, and even prehistoric remains. Or enjoy a warm walk through the Plaza Mayor of Chinchón and taste its famous liquor.
